High-level languages are languages that are highly similar to written English and are therefore much easier to use than machine code and assembly language. A language translator, sometimes known as a compiler or an interpreter, converts high-level languages into machine language.

FORTRAN: FORTRAN stands for FORmula TRANslator. It is a very sophisticated language for scientific and engineering computations that was developed by John Backus for IBM in 1956. Some of the versions accessible are FORTRAN IV, FORTRAN 77 (ANSI standard), FORTRAN 90, FORTRAN 95, and so on.

BASIC: John Kemeny and Thomas Kurtz of Dartmouth College invented BASIC in 1960. It was the first interpreted language and is an excellent language for beginners to learn basic programming abilities. Beginner's All-Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code is what it's called.

COBOL: COBOL (Common Business Oriented Language) was created specifically for the processing of business data. Grace Murray Hopper designed it for the US Department of Defense in 1960, and it was standardized by ANSI in 1968.

C: C is a robust, general-purpose high-level language with low-level programming capabilities. It was created by Dennis Ritchie in the 1970s at Bell Laboratory and was previously known as BPCL or simply B.

C++: It is an upgraded version of the C language developed by Bjarne Stroustrup in the early 1980s. C++ is a superset of the C language with object-oriented capabilities and high efficiency.

PASCAL: PASCAL is a multifunctional programming language that can be used for both research and commercial purposes. It was created by Niklaus Wirth at the Federal Institute of Technology in Switzerland in the early 1970s and named after the 17th-century French mathematician Blasé Pascal.

LISP: LISP, which stands for LIST Processing, is a programming language used in the fields of expert systems, artificial intelligence, and pattern recognition to solve non-numeric data processing problems. It was created at IBM's Laboratory in the early 1960s by John McCarthy.

JAVA: JAVA is a platform-independent programming language created by Sun Microsystems Inc. in 1991. JAVA has a wide range of applications in the web and mobile worlds.

NET: As an alternative to JAVA, Microsoft's current common platform, NET, combines all of the sophisticated features of several languages into a single environment, commonly known as an IDE (Integrated Development Environment). It is most commonly used for solving web-based applications and distributed mobile applications. J#, C#, Visual Basic, Visual C++, etc. are some of its examples.

XML: XML (eXtensible Markup Language) is a web content creation language that allows you to manage documents from various sources in a variety of formats, including web pages, PDF files, and printable publications. Users can create their own tags using XML.

PROLOG: PROLOG (PROgramming LOGic) was created in 1972 by Alain Coulmeraurer and Philippe Roussel in France for solving natural logic and in the knowledge-based system domains.

PHP: PHP stands for Hypertext Pre-processor. It's a well-known server site for scripting languages on UNIX/Linux systems. It is also very popular for accessing databases like My SQL and Oracle which can be supported by Windows server too, by using 3rd party software. It is an open-source software.

SQL: In the early 1970s, IBM developed SQL. It is a popular standard database language that is now accepted by practically all database packages, including MS Access, Oracle, DB2, MS SQL Server, and others.

ASP: ASP (Active Server Page) is a server site that is used for scripting language for accessing a database from a web application. It is most commonly used with MS Access or MS SQL. Only Microsoft Windows Server can execute ASP. ASP.net is its latest version.

Python: Python is a high-level programming language that supports a wide range of programming paradigms, including object-oriented programming. It was created in 1991 by the Python Software Foundation, with Guido Van Rossum as its principal designer. It’s a free and open source software.

PERL: PERL was one of the first scripting languages for web development on UNIX systems. The PERL (Practical Extraction and Reporting Language) scripting language is an open source scripting language that runs on UNIX/Linux servers. Windows Server also supports the PERL programming language.
